Monetary Acknowledgement
Companies and institutions now have the opportunity to give students a monetary acknowledgement during the internship
Companies and institutions now have the opportunity to give students, who are in unpaid internships in Denmark or abroad, a monetary acknowledgement of up to DKK 3,000 per month as an appreciation of the student's efforts during the internship.
The rules provide the following framework for making monetary acknowledgements:
- During their time with a public or private company, the student is not part of the workforce
- The student decides the terms of the internship/collaboration
- The company has no authority to give orders to the student meaning that there is no employment relationship
- The monetary acknowledgement will not be granted as a predetermined income that the student can expect to receive in the same way as a salary
- It is up to the company to decide whether it will grant a monetary acknowledgement
- The amount may not be larger than an amount equivalent to DKK 3,000 per month
The option to grant a monetary acknowledgement are described in:
- The Danish Ministerial Order on Academy Profession Degree Programmes and Professional Bachelor Degree Programmes. (Bekendtgørelse om erhvervsakademiuddannelser og professionsbacheloruddannelser)
- The Danish Ministerial Order on Technical and Mercantile Academy Profession Degree Programmes and Professional Bachelor Degree Programmes (Bekendtgørelse om de tekniske og mercantile erhvervsakademiuddannelser og professionsbacheloruddannelser)
