How to get to Aalborg
By Plane:
The most convenient way to reach Aalborg is by flying into Aalborg Airport (AAL). Aalborg Airport is an international airport with connections to several European cities, as well as some domestic flights within Denmark.
Depending on your departure location, you can book a direct flight to Aalborg or take a connecting flight through a larger European hub, such as Copenhagen Airport (CPH) or Shiphol in Amsterdam, and then continue with a domestic flight to Aalborg.
Once you arrive at Aalborg Airport, you can take a taxi, bus, or train to the city, which is about 7 kilometers away.
Alternatively, you can fly into Billund Airport (BLL), which is another international airport in Denmark, located about 120 kilometers from Aalborg. From Billund, you can take a bus or train to Aalborg. The bus journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, and there are direct buses available, or you can take a train with one transfer in Vejle. Renting a car is also an option if you prefer more flexibility in your travel.
By Train:
If you prefer to travel by train, the journey will likely involve a combination of international and domestic trains.
First, you would take a train to one of Denmark's major train hubs, such as Copenhagen or Hamburg (Germany). From Copenhagen, you can catch a direct intercity train to Aalborg, which takes around 4 to 5 hours.
If traveling via Hamburg, you would need to change trains at the Danish border, often at either Fredericia or Odense, to continue your journey to Aalborg.
Trains in Denmark are operated by DSB, and it’s recommended to check the schedule and buy tickets in advance for the best prices and smooth connections.
Both travel options are efficient, and the choice between them depends on your preference for speed, comfort, and whether you are already close to a major airport or train hub.
