About the programme

You will have ample opportunity to create and customize the educational profile that matches your interests and wishes

At ATCM your fellow students will be from a range of other countries – we currently have students from more than 20 different countries. The core of the programme is the daily lecturing and the group work regarding the semester project.

The programme also offers you a range of opportunities to deepen your knowledge through elective specialisation, work placements, international cooperation, cooperation with businesses, and participation in the innovative research and development projects, that are also part of the focus of the programme.

In other words you will have ample opportunity to create and customize the educational profile that matches your interests and wishes – if you are ready to work for it and be proactive.

Your background

If you are interested in the ATCM programme it is most likely because you have an interest in the world of construction and maybe some practical experience.

You should also be able to identify with what you are reading here on these pages about the content of the programme and the expectations that we have for our students here at ATCM, just as you have prepared yourself for the reality of signing up for a full time study and working closely with students from many different countries and backgrounds.

The goal of your education

Throughout your education we aim at providing you with:

  • The most recent knowledge within the field of construction and experience in applying that knowledge to cooperate in problem solving and innovative thinking
  • Practical experience from work placements and project work that teaches you to apply your theoretical knowledge with the tasks and challenges of real life situations
  • An everyday life at school which is characterised by team spirit and tight bonds between students as well as between students and teachers

In our experience all this will contribute to providing you the strongest possible foundation for a career in construction.

Everyday study life

A full time study

You should expect, as a rule, to be at school every day in the hours from 8:30 am to 15:30 pm for participation in classes and/or group work.

Furthermore, you will need to set aside time for homework etc.. All in all you should expect to spend a minimum of 40 hours a week on your studies.

Independent and critical students

The ATCM programme will take you all around the construction process which means that you are expected to acquire knowledge and competencies on a wide range of topics.

For you to be able to understand the complexity of the design and construction process we emphasize the value of the interdisciplinary projects in each semester.

We are also very aware of ensuring that our tutoring supports your ability to work independently, handle complexity and take a critical view of the information, problems and solutions that you are faced with every day.

Through our educational programme we aim to create competent, responsible, independent, creative, innovative and cooperative Architectural Technology and Construction Managers.

Ongoing evaluation of the programme

On each semester we carry out a midway evaluation in the way of a dialogue meeting between tutors and student representatives.

And at the end of every other all students are invited to assess the tutoring and the course of the semester through an electronic survey.

Furthermore, an annual satisfaction survey for the entire school is carried out every fall semester.

The aim of the different evaluations is to continually assess the quality of our programme and tutoring and follow up with initiatives for improvement where this is deemed necessary.

This approach gives you, the student, the opportunity as well as the responsibility to influence your education, and we expect you to contribute actively and constructively to these evaluations.
