Admission requirements

General upper secondary education or international or European baccalaureate. Find your specific general admission requirements in list of foreign qualifications for entry to higher education in Denmark listed by country of graduation.

Admission by way of general upper secondary education

Specific requirements

  • English corresponding to Danish B-level and either maths or business economics corresponding to Danish B-level
  • High-level matematics or high-level economics

Admission by way of a vocational education

  • Financial assistant (knowledge of advising clients about their economy)
  • General office assistant (knowledge of client communication, handling orders and accounts)
  • Office assistant with a specialisation (as a general office assistant but with additional knowledge within a specific field of office work)

Specific requirements

  • English corresponding to Danish B-level and either maths or business economics corresponding to Danish B-level
  • High-level matematics or high-level economics

Admission by way of another relevant vocational education

Specific requirements

  • English corresponding to Danish B-level and either maths or business economics corresponding to Danish B-level
  • High-level matematics or high-level economics

Selection criteria

  • Work experience relevant to your choice of studies
  • High level of mathematics or economics/financial subjects
  • Studies or work in a country other than your home country
  • Relevant courses or classes
  • Involvement in extra curricular activities or (unpaid) work in any type of organisation or association
  • Additional proficiency (e.g. parts of higher education level courses, summer school or other upper secondary level courses)
  • Your motivation letter

Admission requirements for applicants who hold an IB Diploma

To meet the entry requirements for UCN’s study programmes, you must hold a Diploma of the International Baccalaureate (i.e. you must have passed all your IB courses), and you must satisfy the specific entry requirements indicated below.

You must have minimum a total score of 24 IB points in order to apply for one of our English-taught programmes.

  • English, B level, standard level (SL)
  • Either Mathematics, standard level (SL) previsoulsy termed Mathematical methods SL or Economics, standard level (SL) or Business and management, standard level (SL)

Which English tests does UCN accept?

We accept the following English tests:

IELTS (preferred)

Overall grade of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the subtests

TOEFL

Internet-based test: minimum score of 85

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English

Pass at Grade C

Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English

Pass at Grade C

Please note: If you are a non-EU citizen, you can only apply with either an IELTS or a TOEFL English test.
How can I compare the different English tests?

UCN has tried to compare the official sites of the well-known and appreciated Cambridge test, TOEFL and IELTS towards the European CEFR.

Is it required to provide documentary evidence of my English proficiency?

Applicants who have a degree from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands or Germany, or is a native speaker in English, will only have to provide documentary evidence of their English proficiency through their school level, and we will occasionally conduct Skype interviews with the applicants.

As a minimum, all applicants must speak English at a level that is equivalent to the Danish B-level.

In relation to applicants who have a degree from other countries than Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands or Germany, UCN reserves the right to demand further documentary evidence of the applicant's English proficiency according to section 9 of the Danish Ministerial Order no. 107 of 27 January 2017 on access, enrolment and leave etc.

This documentation must be made up of one of the English tests that we recognise and may also be supplemented by a video interview conducted via Skype for example.

Which English level corresponds to a Danish B-level?

As a minimum, all applicants must speak and write English at a level that is equivalent to the Danish B-level.

Du vil stadig have mulighed for at søge evt. ledige studiepladser, selv om du ikke fik søgt inden ansøgningsfristens udløb, da der er efteroptag helt frem til studiestarten i september. Dog er det først muligt at søge, når oversigten over evt. ledige pladser inklusiv ansøgningsskema offentliggøres på forsiden af UCN's hjemmeside d. 28. juli. 

Optagelseskriterier for ledige studiepladser

Ansøgere, der opfylder adgangskrav, og som søger ledige studiepladser, optages efter først til mølle princip.
