DO YOU WANT TO HELP DELIVER BABIES? WOULD YOU LIKE TO GIVE SUPPORT AND ADVICE TO PARENTS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER CHILDBIRTH?

Please note: This programme is only taught in Danish

As a midwife you work with women and families expecting babies. You help them during delivery, and you are the one to support, advise and care for mother, father and child in the time before and after the delivery.

The midwifery programme covers the central subjects of midwifery skills, foetal development, obstetrics aid and newborn babies. In addition, you will get an insight into a number of other subjects that are important to the profession; these include anatomy, psychology, pedagogy, community medicine and sociology. Half of the duration of the programme is clinical meaning that it takes place in practice in so-called midwifery centres, maternity wards, antenatal wards and postnatal wards either in Northern or Central Jutland.

In Denmark, midwives are typically employed in region hospitals in the midwifery consultation offices, in antenatal wards, maternity wards and postnatal wards. Others are in home-birth programs or in privately owned maternity and ultrasound clinics.
