Ageing in the multicultural society

A two week interprofessional course at University College Northern Denmark

The overall theme is Ageing in the multicultural society. The number of older people worldwide is increasing placing new demands on skills of future health professionals and the necessity to work across professions, sectors and borders.  

Health professionals  are likely to work with older people that are originally from other cultures. Therefore it is important that the competences of the health professionals  meet the challenges of providing  interventions and services in the growing multicultural society. 


  • The health professional as collaborator, communicator and professional
  • The cultural meeting and intercultural communication 
  • The ethical dimension 
  • Integrated health care from hospital to home for 
  • Perspectives on different ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds 
  • Interventions in rehabilitation and healthpromotion 
  • Healthy aging
  • Network collaboration

Learning activities

Casebased learning, lectures, field work and participatory learning activities. 

You will gain knowledge, skills and competencies related to:

Autumn 2018: Week 43/44 from October 22 till November 02  
Spring 2019: Week 14/15 from April 01 till April 12.

Costs and accommodation

The course is free of tuition for partner institutions. 
The student will find accommodation in Local hostels or B&B.
