Testimonial from Dorthe Krogh
A graduate story - If you can dream it, you can do it!
Dorthe Krogh is currently working as an emergency inspector at the Danish Emergency in Northern Jutland.
- My job is exciting and challenging, as I get to work both behind a desk and on field – I never know what the day brings.
Dorthe describes the Architectural Technology and Construction Management study programme as versatile:
- What I enjoyed most about my education at UCN is the project based teaching, as it gave me the chance to link the various disciplines onto something concrete. The combination of diverse subjects makes a whole, which gives a good technical insight that helped me as a student to develop lasting and relevant skills.
Dorthe claims that the education gives access to a vast array of job opportunities, which has challenged her in a positive way – in the end, she chose to focus her career on project management, authority and fire safety.
- Among the skills that I acquired through my education and that lead me to my current job are the ability to project and plan complex building tasks, both individually and in cooperation with others and the ability to combine relevant knowledge and methods when solving building related problems. Last but not least, the capability of handling communication between users, consultants and building owners - both in the planning and building phase, has helped me along my career path.
Dorthe recommends students who aspire at getting their dream job to focus on their own goals, create a network within the field they would like to work with and to remember that:
- If you can dream it, you can do it!
