As a student at UCN you have access to a learning platform, networks and printers

When you are enrolled at UCN a user account is created for you in order to access the it systems. Some of our educations send out a letter containing the logon information (the username and password), while other educations hand over the information at start of term.

User account activation

No later than 14 days after the start of term you have to accept the terms and conditions (IT-rule) for the use of UCN it-systems and internet.

You can access the terms and conditions by logging on to the website, UMS, using your UCN username and UCN password. When you are logged on, you will be asked to accept the it rules.

If you do not activate the terms and conditions within 14 days after start of term you will be logged off the it-systems at UCN until you have accepted the terms and conditions.

Photo for your student card

Before your UCN student card is produced, you must upload a picture of yourself. In order to do this you must log on to UCN's UMS self-service with your UCN user name and password. When you are logged on, find the menu 'Your Info' in which you must choose 'Edit' and here you can upload your photo.

Your foto must be:

  • Of formal character
  • Be a life-like picture - in the style of a passport-picture
  • Have a quiet light-coloured background
  • In colours
  • Have a name without æ, ø, å - and dot
  • Be in .jpg or jpeg. format


  • Photos from leisure, holiday or social context
  • Use of filter
  • Multiple people

If you are having trouble uploading your photo, the UCN Service Centre can help you. Please notice that it may take up to 2 hours before your photo is visible in UCN’s systems.

Two-factor authentication

UCN has introduced a new it safety procedure for all students. This means that you have to make a setup of it on your UCN user account. Please have your mobile and PC ready and follow the guide on - Here you need to choose whether to use single-use code or APP.


As a student at UCN you automatically gain access to a mail account in our mail-system, Outlook Webmail. You can access the mail by going to, and you can also locate a link to the mail from the UCN website front page, under "For Students". You can log on by using your UCN mail address and password.

It is your own responsibility to keep track of important information regarding your education, and therefore you should check your email regularly. Click here to access UCN Webmail.

Mobile registration

At UCN we would like to be able to provide you with important information by SMS, and therefore we recommend that you register your phone number in our UMS Self-service.

If you want to use wireless network you must:

  1. Connect to 'UCN Student'
  2. Enter the security key 44601000
  3. Enter your UCN username and password in a new browser window – this you might have to open yourself.

And if a dialog box pop up with the question "Do you want to register the PC on your home or work network" - you must answer NO.

Pointer - UCN's Student Information Platform

You will need a variety of information in your daily student life. And you are going to use digital self-service solutions in your education, examinations and in the context of the internship. All this you can get an overview of the inn the study portal Pointer.

You must sign in using your UCN e-mail address and password. You will find a link to Pointer at the bottom of Click here to log on to Pointer.

UCN is providing you access to Office 365, from which you among other things, can download and install the MS Office applications on your own pc, tablet or smartphone. You can access: 

- The entire Microsoft Office suite: Word 2016, Excel 2016, PowerPoint 2016 etc.
- Online editions of Word, Outlook, Powerpoint etc.
- A OneDrive drive in the "cloud" with 1000 GB of space (like Dropbox)

All this is free of charge and you can install on up to 5 devices at a time. Once you have received your UCN login information, you can use the Office 365 Guide to get started.

UCN Library (UCN Biblioteket)

As a student at UCN you can access the UCN Library with the option to use the library on all campuses. The library collection and e-resources are specifically selected for the subject areas: Education & Social Sciences, Health, Business and Technology.

As a new student you are automatically registered as a new user, when you begin your studies. After receiving an e-mail with a login and a pincode you will be able to use the library at You can search and borrow literature, make reservations, read about reference management, e-resources and much more. 

The libraries offers a cozy study environment where you can work in groups or retreat to quiet self-studies and you can even access the library after staffed opening hours on all campuses.

As a student in UCN you can access systems such as Canvas, Pointer, Office 365 – including Outlook Webmail and Calendar, OneDrive, OneNote, etc.

These systems are to be used for all communication between you and UCN, but for private use you can also use e.g. Outlook Webmail. However, please be aware that your access will be closed 30 days * after you have graduated – or interrupted your education. At the same time, your files, mails etc. that you may have stored therein are deleted. If you want to save this data, it is your own responsibility to create a backup of these before you stop.
